processors which are faster and hopefully cooler. This makes the
plastic encased laptops which were merely realvery fast. This whole fast thing is pushing me to the edge of my vocabulary. Next they’ll be; really, really a whole lot faster?
The MacBooks are
still available in two colors - black or white - the difference being
well, the color, and a few bucks. Maybe the drive’s a little larger or
something. Black used to be free on PowerBooks, not you have to pay for
it. Someone please explain this to me.
There are also reports from
the UK that Apple’s MagSafe connectors, those magnetic, pop-off power
plugs, may be melting because of too much power. These connectors are
meant to keep you from tripping over the power cord and sending your
computer across the room, but over there in the Untied Kingdom they
pump 220 volts down a wire but the are still suprised when 12 volt
cables meant for a 110 volt system turns black and melts. Perhaps the
British have the same problem with electricians as they do with
dentists, or maybe Apple has to come up with a little better power
brick for the old country until they get over that metric voltage thing.
The MacBooks Pro
have been getting a beating in the geek press because of various
problems, none of which are actually earthshaking. Here’s an example:
fast, now
“Just
received my MBP/2.33GHz/160GB ordered from Apple online. It has one
visible flaw, the shinny chrome letter “r” of the word “MacBook Pro”
under the LCD screen is missing. What’s left is a dent so the letter
“r” is matte. This is noticable in some angles. What should I do? I
need to use the notebook for work and travel very soon and don’t liketo wait a long time for replacement or repair.”
My advice - get the fark over it!
