Miami-Dade Police Officer Allegedly Sold 13 Pounds Of Cocaine
MIAMI, Fla. — A Miami-Dade County police officer faces drug charges after an undercover investigation revealed that he sold about 13 pounds of cocaine while wearing his uniform, the U.S. attorney’s office said Friday.

Errol Washington Benjamin was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. If convicted on the charges, he faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a top fine of $4 million, the U.S. attorney’s office said in a statement.

Benjamin was suspended without pay, Miami-Dade police spokesman Roy Rutland said. “We aggressively investigate any type of activities involving any corruption,” Rutland said.

An official at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County said Benjamin had not yet been booked into the jail.

It’s comforting that he was suspended without pay - you can’t let crimes like this go unrewarded.
